The topical series "Multiscale Modelling for Cancer Radiotherapies: from X-rays to ions", edited by Professor Andrey Solov’yov (MBN Research Center) and Professor Eugene Surdutovich (Oakland University, USA), has been published in Cancer Nanotechnology.
This topical collection of reviews and research papers provides a platform for scholars and practitioners in disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, and medical science, to share and exchange their research, knowledge, and insights related to the scientific base of assessment of cell inactivation in the course of radiation therapy of different modalities from X-rays to ions.
An important part of this topical series describes the current state of the art in the development of the Multi-Scale Approach to the physics of radiation damage with ions and its application to different radiobiological problems, including the computational analysis of a thermomechanical pathway of biodamage due to ion-induced nanoscale shock waves, the calculation of cell survival and relative biological effectiveness as well as the analysis of variable cell survival along the spread-out Bragg peak.
